A detailed description of the announcement teaser

A vivid account circulates of the teaser’s contents — a dishevelled swordsman interrupting an old man mid-meal, raft-building, an enormous tidal wave, Zhong Kui riding a tiger at the end — and is often attributed to VGC’s announcement coverage. We fetched that article directly. It contains none of it.VGC The description appears to be assembled by search-engine summarisation rather than written by any outlet. We have not found a publication that prints it.

A Feng Ji quote about choosing a new game over Wukong DLC

“Official” gameplay trailers that are not first-party

Search results surface several uploads labelled as the official gameplay trailer. Checking each through YouTube’s oEmbed endpoint — which reports the uploading channel regardless of the title — returns Xbox and IGN, not Game Science. The first-party upload is on @BlackMythGame.Game ScienceOfficial video Citing a re-upload as an official source is an easy mistake to make and a hard one to notice.

Coverage gives 10 February and 17 February 2026 for the same video. Widely asserted as fact across aggregator sites. The title names the myth, not necessarily the player character — the previous game was named for Sun Wukong and cast you as someone else.

Circulated widely after the gameplay reveal. No first-party statement supports any year. The studio’s own FAQ says only that it “will not be fast”, which rules nothing in. Listed here so the guess is visible without being dressed up as reporting.

“Unsupported” does not mean false.

None of the items above have been disproved. What we can say is narrower and more useful: we went to the source each claim was attributed to, and the claim was not there. Some of them may be accurate and simply mis-cited — the teaser description in particular could be an honest account of the video by someone who watched it, passed around until it acquired a citation it never had.

A claim with no traceable source is not evidence, no matter how often it appears.

The quote is from the video’s own description — it is the first-party origin of the “early development” and “work-in-progress build” lines that Gematsu and VGC both carry. The description also calls the player character only “the protagonist”.
